Rockstar Games doesn't do sales as often as most big publishers on the App Store, but when it does join the crowd, you see some deep discounts. Case in point: starting this afternoon Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars' price has dropped by eight bucks, while the publisher's other iOS GTA title, Grand Theft Auto 3, has seen a reduction by three. Our resident Math Wizards estimate that you're saving at least eleven bucks if you grab both right now. And you should -- these games are pretty good.

From all of us here at TouchArcade, to all of you people out there, have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! If you're looking for something to do this weekend while you surf between barbecues, parades, and/or other memorial services, there's absolutely no shortage of cheap games to load your phone up with. On this week's episode of The TouchArcade Show, we discuss the Cerebral Assassin. We also dive back into Diablo 3 and touch on how dead the mobile industry appears to be leading up to the ridiculousness that is E3. On topic, we dig deep on games like Bee Leader, Defender Chronicles 2, and Slingshot Racing. Heck, we even discuss the ustwo controversy at length before diving into our pool of listener questions.
I think you'll like this week's 'cast, as it's a good mix of irreverent commentary and ...

When Recettear hit the scene, RPGs had their stand-out shop-keeping simulator. When Dungeon Raid [$2.99 / Free ] arrived, we learned that gem-matching games make excellent roguelikes. From there it follows that we need a gem-matching RPG shop-keeping sim, like, say, Adventurer Workshop [ $0.99 ], right? It isn't quite a Dungeon Raid or a Recettear, but if that's a mash-up that excites you then you'll be well-served by this game.

Stop. Can you hear that? It's the sound of thousands of indie game developers crying, as their games face off against oodles of discounted Electronic Arts titles. In celebration of Memorial Day, the publisher has been dropping prices right and left, no doubt in the hope that we'll be busting out our iPhones and iPads instead of listening to our folks in the car or by the barbecue or in the living room.
Below, we've highlighted a small selection of the games from this sale. The full list is an e...

If there’s one thing I think we’ve all learned after 4 years of gaming with a touch screen, it’s that the simpler you can make the controls on a device that’s devoid of buttons the better. Sure, virtual buttons that mimic a traditional game controller have come a long way, and are certainly adequate for many situations. But there’s really nothing like a control scheme that feels tailor-made for a touch screen device and gaming on the go.
The simplest control scheme out there is the sin...

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a bit tired of killing zombies. Sure, we’ve had tons of fun blowing the brains out of the living undead in the past, but there’s only so many ways you can portray it until it starts to get a bit old. Alive4ever mini [ $0.99 ] from Meridian Digital Entertainment looks to capture the allure of zombie hunting once more, but in the end you’re left with a somewhat generic zombie shooter.
Like its predecessors Alive 4-ever [ $2.99 ] and Alive 4-ever R...

Semi Secret Software’s Canabalt [ $0.99 ] certainly wasn’t the first endless auto-running platformer around, but it’s definitely one of the most high profile and arguably set off the trend off hundreds of similar running games coming out on the App Store since its release in October of 2009.
While some of the games that followed expanded on the core idea with additional character moves, items and powerups, new environments and more, Canabalt always played it cool with its simplistic elegan...
